While King Tactical’s founders, John Shaw and Ryan Zillioux, emphasize a secure, online operation with federal background checks for all customers, some residents remain concerned.

One neighbor, Dennis (who requested anonymity), expressed discomfort with the business’ proximity to an elementary school. “Who wants a gun seller in their backyard?” he questioned. While supportive of legitimate businesses, Dennis believes a gun store near a school sends the wrong message to children.

Refuting these concerns, Shaw stated, “I don’t understand their fears. It seems like they’re imagining something much bigger than reality.” Zillioux echoed this sentiment, suggesting residents are misconstruing the low-key nature of the proposed business.

Neighbors have proposed relocating the business to a nearby commercial area. However, Shaw is set on the current location due to lower overhead costs and the possibility of expanding to a brick-and-mortar store in the future.

Undeterred, many residents are mobilizing against the plan. Flyers reading “Say No to Rezoning” have been posted, and Dennis plans to attend the virtual zoning hearing on April 4th at 9:00 AM. “I trust the owner will prioritize safety,” Dennis said, “but ultimately, this business just doesn’t fit the neighborhood.”
