NFL Offseason Recap: Team-by-Team Grades
The 2024 NFL offseason is in full swing, with free agency and trades shaping up the landscape for the upcoming season. Let’s take a look at how each team has fared so far.

Arizona Cardinals (Grade: C-)
Needs: WR, DL, CB Cap Space: $28.9 Million
The Cardinals had a weak roster in 2023, and GM Monti Ossenfort focused on defense in free agency with players like Nichols, Murphy-Bunting, and Wilson. While this helps their 25th-ranked defense, the offense needs serious work. Losing key receivers like Brown and Moore leaves Kyler Murray with few reliable options outside of McBride and Conner. While Brown provides offensive line depth, Williams isn’t an upgrade over Humphries.
The Cardinals didn’t take any big swings in free agency, which might be okay if they’re not aiming to contend in 2024. However, Murray needs help, and drafting a top pass-catcher like Harrison or Nabers is crucial. Adding just one player won’t fix the offense, and the defense could still use more depth. Arizona has cap space, so post-draft free agency might be an option.

Atlanta Falcons (Grade: A-)
Needs: Edge, CB, WR (depth) Cap Space: $6.4 Million
The Falcons addressed their biggest need by signing veteran QB Kirk Cousins, despite his age and recent injury. His contract might be an overpay, but Atlanta believes Cousins can lead them to contention in the weak NFC South. Their defense was already solid (11th overall) and has playmakers like Robinson, Allgeier, Pitts, and London on offense. Cousins could be the missing piece for a potential playoff run. While signing Cousins was risky, it opens them up to taking the best player available at pick #8. Mooney and Moore add depth at receiver, but finding a top target alongside London would be wise. The defense could also use an edge rusher and secondary depth, but overall, the roster has few weaknesses.

Baltimore Ravens (Grade: C-)
Needs: OT, OG, EDGE Cap Space: $9.1 Million
Ravens GM Eric DeCosta faced a tough offseason with many key free agents and limited cap space. They lost several key players on both the offensive line (both starting guards and a starting tackle) and the defense (Queen, Clowney, Stone, and Darby).
The offensive line is a major concern with three starting spots in question. While they signed Derrick Henry, his age and high career carries add risk. Defensively, the losses are significant, and there haven’t been any major additions. The Ravens’ limited cap space left them with few options, and their offseason moves haven’t been impressive.
