Canada Soccer Shirt History

Since the very first game played by Canada’s national soccer team, back in 1908, there has always been a shirt involved. Over the years, different shirts have been used with various designs and materials. But it wasn’t until 1970 that Canada finally settled on a specific shirt design to be worn at all levels of the game.

The traditional red and white Canada Soccer Shirt was created by Adidas and has been used ever since. The shirt features a detailed maple leaf on the front with “Canada” written above it in blue letters. The back of the shirt features three diagonal stripes in green, white and red. The Canadian Soccer Association has also produced alternate shirts in the past which have used different designs and colors as well.

However, even though Adidas designed the official Canada Soccer Shirt, other companies have also produced their own versions of this popular football staple over the years. Nike, for example, has produced several different iterations of the Nike-branded Canada Soccer Shirt which have featured varying designs and colors including an all-black version that was worn during World Cup Qualifiers in 2015.

There are currently no plans to discontinue or update this classic design so fans can continue to wear their country’s pride on match days across North America for many years to come.
