How Max Soul Became a Champion
It’s been an incredible journey for Max Soul – from being released by his boyhood club to becoming a Birmingham City FC legend, and now an EFL champion.
Born and raised in Birmingham, Max has always been a huge fan of the Blues. So when he was released by Aston Villa at the age of 16, it was a devastating blow. But he didn’t give up on his dream of playing professional football.
He spent the next few years working hard, playing for non-league teams and trying to earn himself a contract with a professional club. His determination paid off when he finally signed for Birmingham City in 2013.
Since then, he’s gone from strength to strength. He quickly became a key player for the Blues and played a vital role in helping them win promotion to the Premier League in 2014. He also played a key role in their successful fight against relegation last season.
And now, after years of hard work and dedication, he’s finally achieved his dream of becoming an EFL champion. It’s an incredible achievement for Max and one that he’ll cherish forever.
What the EFL is
The English Football League, or EFL, is the top level of professional football in England. The EFL is made up of three divisions: the Championship, League One and League Two. Each division has 24 clubs.
The EFL was founded in 1888. It is the oldest professional football league in the world. The first ever professional football match was played in England in 1885. Professionalism was not legalised in England until 1885. The EFL is therefore older than both the German Bundesliga and the Italian Serie A.
The EFL is currently sponsored by Sky Betting & Gaming. The current television rights holders are Sky Sports and BT Sport.
