What is Karlsruher SC?

Karlsruher SC is a professional football club based in Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The team plays in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. Karlsruher SC was formed on 12 December 1899 as Fußball-Club Karlsruhe and played its first competitive match in 1900 against 1. FC Nürnberg.

The team enjoyed some success in the early years and made it to the final of the German Football Championship, which they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt. In 1933, they were relegated from the top division but returned two seasons later and have been playing there ever since.

They won their first championship in 1951 and earned promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history. Karlsruher SC’s official Christmas sweater has become an annual tradition in the Bundesliga and one of the most iconic and hilarious sweaters around. This year, they teamed up with online retailer Zalando to produce a limited edition version of their ugly sweater.

Fans can pre-order the sweaters starting on December 1st and they will ship starting on December 16th. The sweaters retail for €39.90 (about $47USD).

The shirt features a green and black striped body with a red Karlsruher SC crest, as well as black sleeves and green cuffs. There are also two green patches on either side of the crest, which spells out “KSC D.”

Karlsruher SC’s association with Zalando started in 2016 when they partnered up to produce an exclusive jersey for the German e-commerce giant’s “Club Barcelona Collection.” Ever since then, Karlsruher SC fans have been able to purchase various merchandise items through Zalando, including this year’s Christmas sweater.
