On Monday, Bundesliga club Schalke 04 announced the signing of midfielder Weston McKennie from Manchester United. McKennie made 22 appearances for the Red Devils last season and has represented the USA at youth levels. The 20-year-old has been compared to former Schalke midfielder André Schürrle.

Schalke 04 have also announced the signings of defenders Mitchell Weiser and Tin Jedvaj from Bayern Munich and Roma respectively. Weiser, 23, spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen while Jedvaj, 20, made 13 appearances for Roma in all competitions last season. The duo join a Schalke defence that already includes World Cup winners Benedikt Höwedes and Ron-Robert Zieler.
