The Tampa Bay Lightning are a professional ice hockey team based in Tampa, Florida. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The Lightning have one Stanley Cup championship in their history, in 2003–04. The team is often referred to as the Bolts, and the nickname was used on their former third jersey. The Lightning plays home games at Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa.

The team’s general manager is Steve Yzerman, who has also served as team captain since he was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings fourth overall in 1983. Yzerman led Detroit to three Stanley Cup championships as a player and was a member of Team Canada’s Olympic gold medal-winning squad in 2002. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest players of all time. Head coach Jon Cooper has led the team to four division championships since his 2013 hiring.

In terms of conference and division standings, the Lightning have been regular playoff contenders, qualifying for the playoffs in eleven of their first eighteen seasons since joining the league in 1992–93. The Bolts have won six division titles, including five consecutive from 2015 to 2019, appearing in the Stanley Cup Finals twice during that span.
