Jacksonville State’s bowling team triumphed in the 2024 NC Bowling National Championship, defeating Arkansas State in a close 4-3 match on Saturday night. This victory marks the program’s first year of existence.

Head coach Shannon O’Keefe is no stranger to national championship glory, having secured two previous wins with McKendree in 2017 and 2022. For Jacksonville State, this championship is a historic first for any of their teams outside of Division II. Their prior national titles in football, baseball, and basketball were all achieved at the Division II level.

The championship selections were revealed on March 27th, followed by regional matches in early April. The finals took place on April 12th and 13th at Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan.

Jacksonville State dominated the competition, defeating Sam Houston in the first two rounds. Arkansas State also had a strong showing, eliminating Youngstown State. In the final round, Arkansas State bounced back to win against Youngstown State, but Jacksonville State ultimately emerged victorious in the championship match.
