1. Yaroslav Askarov, G, 21 (Milwaukee Admirals)

Considered for the top spot were four different Predators prospects, yet Yaroslav Askarov’s potential as a starting NHL goaltender tilted the scales. His emergence in North America last season showcased promising performances with the Milwaukee Admirals, exhibiting impressive saves and securing wins. This season, Askarov’s stellar form continues, highlighted by 11 consecutive victories and a save percentage exceeding .920.

His agility, athleticism, and ability to anticipate shots underscore his status as one of the premier goalie prospects globally. Despite occasional vulnerabilities, particularly in glove-hand saves, his remarkable footwork and reflexes offer tremendous upside.

2. Matthew Wood, C/RW/LW, 19 (University of Connecticut)

Matthew Wood, the youngest player in college hockey last season, quickly made his mark as a pivotal player for the University of Connecticut. Transitioning from center to winger, he emerged as the team’s leading scorer, showcasing versatility across forward positions.

Although his sophomore season statistics witnessed a slight decline, Wood’s offensive prowess remains evident. With a robust frame and exceptional stickhandling, he excels as a multi-dimensional scorer, adept at navigating through traffic and delivering precise shots. Despite the need for further speed enhancement, his defensive contributions and playmaking abilities add depth to his game, positioning him as a promising playmaker and finisher at the NHL level.
