The Nintendo representatives sitting beside me casually described my encounter with Amarys, a member of the Blueberry Academy’s Elite Four, as “very losable.” Naturally, I decided to put their statement to the test. Already managing an unfamiliar team, I took it a step further by intentionally making moves with type disadvantages, just to gauge the consequences.
They weren’t exaggerating; I lost, only able to take out four of her six Pokémon, despite her ace making an appearance. While it wasn’t the outcome I had hoped for, I was impressed by the challenging nature of the fight and how Amarys’s team and decisions truly embodied the “Elite” in Elite Four. As any seasoned trainer knows, there’s always a chance for a rematch, and I eagerly anticipate it when The Indigo Disk is released.

The Indigo Disk serves as the second DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Unlike The Teal Mask, players cannot access it until completing the base game. This endgame DLC requires completion of both Scarlet and Violet’s main story and The Teal Mask to gain entry.
Once unlocked, players will journey to the Blueberry Academy, a sister school to Naranja Academy, exploring a new area where they will reunite with old friends, meet new trainers, and engage in battles. Additionally, there are new (and familiar) Pokémon to capture, embracing the essence of Pokémon in the best possible ways.

While my time with The Indigo Disk concluded with a challenging battle against Amarys, it began with a visit to Blueberry Academy’s Terarium, an expansive facility replicating various environments, from tropical beaches to frozen tundra.
The Terarium is home to a plethora of Pokémon native to each environment, providing an excellent opportunity to fill out the Pokédex and observe these creatures in their natural habitats. These Pokémon don’t just emerge from the friendly professors’ provided Poké Balls; they roam freely, a delightful surprise.
The Terarium isn’t merely a Pokémon-catching space, although that can certainly consume a considerable amount of time. The Indigo Disk introduces new evolutions like Archuladon, evolving from Duraludon, and Paradox Pokémon like Raging Bolt and Iron Crown. Moreover, it brings back a multitude of returning Pokémon, extending beyond the revival of older starters. While exact numbers elude me to avoid banishment to Area Zero, suffice it to say, it’s an extensive collection, and catching them all will prove to be a substantial endeavor.

Yet, the true allure for many lies in the Terarium itself. Impressively vast and meticulously detailed, exploring this space was a genuinely enjoyable experience. While I can’t delve into all the intricacies at this moment, there is undoubtedly much to discover, and I’m eager to immerse myself in the Terarium when the opportunity arises.
Nevertheless, Blueberry Academy isn’t all about leisure. As an educational institution, it offers classes for players to engage in, and from my brief observation, they appear to be hands-on. I participated in one held in the Terarium, which tasked me with capturing an Alolan Pokémon and bringing it back. Successfully obtaining an Alolan Exeggutor, I headed back, leaving the others with homework. Oops.
