Texas linebacker Jaylan Ford, despite a quiet night with just three tackles due to the Cowboys running only 56 plays, emphasized the team’s dominance in run defense across all levels throughout the season. “We just did us,” Ford stated. “All year, we’ve been a dominant upfront team, dominate in the run defense and all three levels. We kind of just came in, we knew our job, and everyone executed.”

Gordon, who had been held to fewer than 100 yards only once in the previous nine games, encountered a stout Texas defense that has now kept seven of its last eight opponents under 100 yards rushing as a team.

Both tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders (105 yards) and receiver Adonai Mitchell (109 yards) exceeded 100 yards receiving. The game set a new attendance record for the Big 12 title game, with 84,523 fans in attendance.
