For over six decades, the BMW M Sports Trophy Awards have been a venerable tradition, acknowledging the outstanding achievements of privateer teams and drivers participating in BMW race cars worldwide. Annually, points are accumulated, and the victors are unveiled each December during the BMW M Motorsport holiday celebration in Germany.

In 2023, Turner Motorsport clinched the prestigious team award, attaining excellence in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and VP SportsCar series, securing championships in both with the M4 GT4. Their triumph extended to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar championship with the M4 GT3. Despite team owner Will Turner’s absence to accept the trophy in person, attending an HSR event in Sebring, he expressed pride in his team’s success, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the Sport Trophy outcome. BimmerWorld Racing secured the second spot in the team standings, boasting victories in the SRO GT4 America series and the SRO GT World Challenge America with M4 GT4 and M4 GT3 entries, respectively.
In the driver standings, Michael Schrey claimed the top position following a stellar season in the GT4 European Series and the NLS (Nürburgring Endurance Series). American driver Chandler Hull, who competed in various series, secured the third spot in the driver points, trailing Gabriele Piana.
BMW M CEO Franciscus van Meel personally presented awards and commended the participants for their role as global ambassadors of BMW and BMW M. He praised the dedication and loyalty of all involved, extending warm congratulations to Turner Motorsport and Michael Schrey for their significant contributions to a highly successful season for the BMW M Motorsport family.

Van Meel also acknowledged the longstanding efforts of Walkenhorst Motorsport, which competed with BMW GT3 spec cars from 2013 to 2023, achieving notable victories, including the Spa 24 Hour race in 2018 and the NLS Speed Trophy with the M4 GT3. Although Walkenhorst is transitioning to Aston Martin GT3 cars for the 2024 season, they will continue racing with the M4 GT4.
